Often, the most effective solutions to problems and the most creative ideas come when our brains are in a state of rest, what we may refer to as being bored.
In our modern world, we all seem to strive to evade boredom by all means, and this is made possible by the easily available activities we can engage in by simply a click of a button. With mobile smartphones, it is almost impossible to get "bored", when an average person checks their phone about 58 times a day.
Moreover, there are VOD platforms such as Prime Video, Disney +, Netflix, and many others, which really makes it hard for anyone to feel bored when they are home. Even when traveling or commuting.
Because naturally, we avoid being bored, we spend most of our time with these 'distractions'. But the downside to that is that we no longer have space and time to actually THINK.
We consume a lot of content on our smartphones and smart TVs to the point where we no longer have time for ourselves.
And that makes us almost redundant when it comes to utilizing our rational privilege as a species. Making us unable to solve our own problems and come up with original creative ideas. Essentially this makes us a 'useless' society that only consumes what is being shoved onto us with no recourse.
To be at the top of things in your life holistically, in our modern-day world, it is of fundamental importance to schedule bored time.
What this boredom time does, is it gives us time to ask critical questions, to reflect, and to creatively find ways to deal with problems and challenges we may be faced with.
You can schedule bored time just like you schedule gym time, reading time, and all other activities you do. This can be scheduled daily, it can be 10, 20, or 30 minutes, however long you feel you may need to actually THINK. With no distractions.
Many tend to think they think when they get to bed when in fact their minds merely wander until they fall asleep. And most of that wandering is neither positive nor effective.
With your boredom time, you intentionally think of all the possible solutions to your problems and others. You deliberately mine your creative juices to give you an edge when it comes to what you do.
While others are occupied with scrolling through TikTok and consuming unending series on Netflix. Get bored. Intentionally so.
And then watch how you become better than the rest as you easily come up with solutions and creative ideas to bring about life to new things while others are so consumed with evading boredom at all costs.
Being extra-ordinary requires you to get bored so you can THINK.
