There are disparities and distinguishable differences between those who succeed in the quests and activities they undertake, and those who don't succeed. despite both putting in the effort.
Here are some of the reasons for this disparity:
1. Attitude and mindset:
The mindset and attitude towards life and how one views success and failure greatly impact one's success. Individuals with a growth mindset believe in their ability to develop and improve themselves.
Irrespective of the challenges they face, rather than asking themselves 'Why is this happening to me', they ask 'What is this teaching me'. It is all in the mindset and outlook one has of his or her world. On the other hand, those with a fixed mindset may struggle to overcome challenges and setbacks, hindering their growth, therefore the success they desire.
2. We define success differently:
People have different interpretations of success. What may be considered growth and achievement for one person may not be the same for another. Each individual may have their own unique aspirations, which can impact their efforts and outcomes.
3. Varying levels of commitment:
The level of commitment is the core difference between those who succeed in their tasks and those who don't. Those who consistently put in focused effort over an extended period are more likely to see progress and growth. In contrast, those who are inconsistent, their efforts often yield minimal or no required results at all.
4. Luck and Serendipity:
In as much as success is predominantly guided by our intentional actions, we cannot ignore the fact that there is an element of luck and serendipity types of situations that may propel one to success.
Being at the right place at the right time may potentially change the course of your life's journey to where you desire it to be.
So, some are successful simply because of luck. But the general rule regarding luck is "Luck comes to those who are prepared".
No matter the luck and opportunity you may get, how prepared you are will determine whether you succeed or not. There are individuals who had luck on their side but still did not succeed. That is also something to be kept in mind.
5. Availability of resources and opportunities:
The availability of resources, such as education, mentorship, or financial support, can influence an individual's journey to success. Access to these resources may vary depending on factors like socioeconomic status, demographics, and personal networks, which can impact someone's ability to succeed. So, some succeed purely because of the resources and opportunities that are within their vicinity.
Success is relative and therefore what may be success to you may not mean success to me. However, the above describes the possible contributing factors that can make one successful or not.
If you see yourself as not being successful as you wish, all that may be due to your lack of being cognizant of the above-mentioned possible causes.
If you see someone else and see them as successful it is because they lead their lives along the confinements of these contributing factors.
So, how others are successful and others aren't, all boils down to their individual abilities to have a clear-to-win mindset and attitude, to have clear definitions of what success means to them, and to be committed to whatever task or discipline they may be engaged in. The rest, such as luck, is out of our control but when it comes, being prepared will surely propel you to the heights you want to be.
