With our different quests to reach our desired goals, we look for ways to reach those goals, and that often results in us looking for the How-Tos in getting where we aim. And that is where most make mistakes and end up not reaching their desired destination.
We search for the how-to's all over the place and end up obsessing over the how-to's we learn from other people, ignoring that the how-to of what might've worked for the other person may not work for you.
That obsession becomes a never-ending activity. If the how-to of person A does not work for me, I look for the how-tos of another person, and the cycle keeps on happening without any yielded positive results. That eventually leads to one being preoccupied without actually putting in the work and losing focus on the actual destination.
There is nothing wrong with looking for ways to reach your target and finding the correct how-to can be the greatest thing for you and potentially save you years and years you could've wasted trying to figure something out. The problem begins when one starts to solely focus and obsess over the how-to's of others, thus forgetting about the destination.
The primary focus should be the destination, how you get there should be secondary, irrespective of the information you may acquire along your journey.
And doing so, you get to form your own how-to's which will strictly be tailored to you and your situation.
The prescriptions we seek and learn are just starting points, to be the best you have to forge your own path and that begins with a laser-focused view of the destination.
